Another summer has come and gone and what a great year it was at Silver Dollar City in 2016. Between all of the SDC festivals, new rides, and great new musical talent featured at one of the best family amusement parks / tourist attractions in America, time just seemed to slip by too quickly. Now, autumn is knocking on the door and the leaves have begun to show a glimmer of the golden autumn colors that create such a beautiful Ozark’s landscape. The Silver Dollar City Christmas lights have been hung, the schedule prepared and all of the Winter events at SDC are springing into motion. So, what can you expect to see at SDC this X-Mas? When will the Christmas lights be shining bright? When will the nightly parades begin?
When Does The 2016 Silver Dollar City Christmas Parade Begin?
The official opening for the Christmas season begins on November 7th and will continue through Christmas until December 30th. The typical daily schedule is Thursday – Sunday from 1PM – 9PM, but you should double check the calendar above and make sure that they will be open for when you plan on coming to see the lights and festivities at SDC.

Tip : If you go after 7PM you can return the next day for FREE. This is great if part of your family just wants to see the Christmas lights and the next day all of the family that wants to visit Silver Dollar City for the rides and musical events can have fun from when the park opens till it closes (or when they are ready to drop)..
When Is SDC Have The Least Amount of Visitors – If you don’t like big crowds, the best day to go is on a Thursday.

Parking Is Free – Yes, you heard that right. Most amusement parks, sporting events, concerts, etc… make you pay for parking. At Silver Dollar City parking is free. They also have shuttles that are constantly picking up visitors at the shuttle stations that are in every parking lot.
Tip : Remember what parking lot you have parked in (A, B, C, D, etc…)
There Are Over 5 MILLION Christmas Lights Twinkling Every Night
You will really get into the Spirit of Christmas when you make your visit. Over 1000 trees are decorated from top to bottom, including a five story (man made) tree located at the front entrance. This is a must see Christmas tree, but don’t worry…. you can’t miss it!
Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Parade
Try to be around the 5 story Christmas tree on Main Street at around 5:30 PM for the lighting ceremony. They will also be singing Christmas songs. After the lighting ceremony the Christmas Parade will begin.
What Is The Christmas Parade Like at Silver Dollar City
They go above and beyond when it comes to their Christmas parade. They spend over 1 MILLION dollars to develop the parade. It consists of 100,000 LED multicolored lights that illuminate beautiful floats. You will see drumming bears, twirling ballerinas, cymbal playing penguins, elves, rudolph, wooden soldiers and more. Yes, of course you will see Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus!
What Time Does the Parade Begin?
You will get two opportunities to see the Silver Dollar City Christmas Parade each night. So don’t panic if you miss the first one. The first parade will come by at 6PM and the parade comes through again at 8PM.
Where does the parade begin? The parade begins (locate a map that are visible all throughout the park) anear the Red Gold Heritage Hall. This is where they have their live production of It’s a Wonderful Life… The parade passes through Main St. square and finishes near the Powder Keg roller coaster.
There are many wonderful travel attractions all throughout the United States. You will be hard pressed to find an amusement park that is both family oriented and with activities for all ages like you can at SDC, the “jewel” park of the Ozarks.
